Terms of Service

The Only One is available exclusively to individuals who meet all of the following requirements:

• You are at least 18 years of age.
• You are legally permitted to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction.
• You are not prohibited from using the Service under any applicable law or court order.
• You have not been previously banned or removed from the Service by us.
• You are not a convicted sex offender.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet all of the above eligibility requirements. We reserve the right to verify your eligibility at any time and to suspend or terminate your account if you do not meet these requirements.

We take safety seriously. All members are required to complete identity verification before accessing the full Service. This is not optional — it is how we protect everyone in our community.

Creating an account

To use the Service, you must create an account and provide accurate, complete, and current information about yourself. You agree to keep this information up to date. You may not create an account on behalf of another person or use a false identity.

Account security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@meet-only.one if you suspect any unauthorized access to or use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the security of your account.

One account per person

You may create and maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts — including for the purpose of circumventing a suspension or ban — is a violation of these Terms and will result in permanent removal from the Service.

Identity verification

As a condition of full access to the Service, you must complete our identity verification process, which includes submitting a government-issued ID and a real-time selfie. By completing verification, you confirm that all submitted materials are genuine and belong to you. Submitting false or fraudulent verification materials is a serious violation of these Terms and may be reported to relevant authorities.

The Only One is a curated introduction platform designed exclusively for people seeking long-term romantic relationships or deep, meaningful friendships. We do not operate as a general social network or casual dating service.

The matching process

After completing your compatibility assessment and identity verification, you will receive a series of curated introductions — up to seven people — over a period of one to three months, depending on your level of engagement. Introductions are delivered one at a time. You will not receive your next introduction until the current introduction period has concluded or you have formally closed it.

The compatibility assessment

Our compatibility assessment is grounded in peer-reviewed psychological research and measures dimensions such as attachment style, values alignment, conflict resolution style, and long-term relationship orientation. Your assessment responses are used exclusively to generate your matches. They are never shared in raw form with other members or third parties. By completing the assessment, you acknowledge that the results are tools to support matching — not clinical diagnoses or guarantees of compatibility.

What we do

Curate introductions based on compatibility research, verify every member, and support your journey with guided activities and prompts.

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose: building genuine, long-term connections with other members. You agree to:

• Represent yourself honestly and accurately in your profile and all communications.
• Treat other members with respect, dignity, and good faith at all times.
• Use the Service only for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• Comply with all applicable local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations.
• Report any suspicious, harmful, or abusive behavior to us promptly.
• Keep your compatibility assessment responses truthful and reflective of your actual values, preferences, and relationship goals.

The following conduct is strictly prohibited on The Only One and will result in immediate account termination, and in serious cases, legal action or reports to law enforcement:

Identity and misrepresentation

• Impersonating another person, using a false identity, or submitting fraudulent verification documents.
• Misrepresenting your age, relationship status, location, or intentions.
• Creating a profile on behalf of someone else without their explicit consent.

Harmful and abusive behavior

• Harassing, threatening, stalking, or intimidating other members.
• Sending unsolicited explicit or sexual content.
• Engaging in any form of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
• Attempting to manipulate, coerce, or psychologically harm another member.

Fraud and commercial misuse

• Soliciting money, gifts, financial information, or other valuables from other members.
• Using the Service to advertise, solicit, or promote commercial products or services.
• Engaging in or facilitating any form of scam, fraud, or deceptive scheme.

Technical misuse

• Attempting to access another member's account without authorization.
• Using automated tools, bots, scrapers, or scripts to interact with the Service.
• Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with any part of the Service.
• Uploading malicious code, viruses, or any content designed to damage or disrupt the Service.

Safety is at the core of The Only One. If you encounter behavior that violates these Terms, please report it immediately using the in-app reporting feature or by emailing safety@meet-only.one. We investigate all reports.

Ownership

You retain ownership of the content you submit to the Service, including your profile photos, biography, and messages. By submitting content, you grant The Only One a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, store, display, and reproduce your content solely as necessary to operate and improve the Service.

Content standards

All content you submit must be accurate, lawful, and respectful. You may not post content that is defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, or otherwise objectionable. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these standards, without notice.

Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service, you grant us the right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation. We appreciate your input and use it to build a better product for everyone.

Early access period

During the current early access period, the Service is available free of charge. We will provide advance notice — no less than 14 days — before transitioning to a paid model. Early access members will be informed of any pricing changes and offered founding-member terms where applicable.

Paid subscriptions (future)

When paid subscriptions are introduced, the following terms will apply: subscription fees will be charged in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected); fees are non-refundable except where required by law; you may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings, and cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period; we reserve the right to change pricing with at least 30 days' notice.

Refund policy

If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at billing@meet-only.one within 14 days of the charge. We will review your request and respond within 5 business days.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information provided through the Service, including compatibility assessments and match recommendations.

We are not responsible for the conduct, actions, or statements of any member, whether online or offline. Meeting another person in real life carries inherent risks, and you do so at your own discretion and risk. We strongly encourage you to exercise caution and meet in public places.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above disclaimers may not apply to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Only One and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses — arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the Service exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability — whether contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise — and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.

Governing law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Informal resolution

Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@meet-only.one and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve any issue within 30 days of receiving your notice.

Arbitration

If informal resolution is unsuccessful, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Arbitration will take place in English. You and The Only One each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action.

Exception — small claims

Either party may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court in lieu of arbitration, provided the claim remains in small claims court and proceeds only on an individual basis.

Class action waiver

You agree to resolve disputes with us on an individual basis only. You may not bring claims as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of class or representative proceeding.

Termination by you

You may close your account at any time by going to your account settings and selecting “Delete my account,” or by contacting us at support@meet-only.one. Upon deletion, your profile will be removed from the Service. Certain data may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

Termination by us

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine — in our sole discretion — that you have violated these Terms, that your account poses a safety risk to other members, or that continued access is otherwise inappropriate. We are not obligated to disclose the specific reason for any termination decision.

Effect of termination

Upon termination of your account for any reason, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution — shall survive.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Only One regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect and post a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.

No waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not be deemed a waiver of such right or provision.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any rights or obligations hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
